Today is Memorial Day. Today is not about a cook out or spending time with family or fireworks. Today is not about opening the pool and having a pool party. Today is not about a 3 day weekend from work.
Memorial Day is taking time out of your day to think about the men and women who have sacrificed everything for all the above things and the freedom’s you have.
Memorial Day is about remembering the families left behind by those who have paid the ultimate price, for your freedoms. Young mothers with sons and daughters who will never meet their daddies. Fathers with children who will never see their mothers again. Mothers and Fathers who will never see their sons and daughters again.
Memorial Day is about reflecting on all the lives lost so you can live yours how you want it. Whether right or wrong, good or bad, you were able to make the choices you made because someone who you didn’t know, died for you.
Memorial Day is remembering that no matter the cost, there are people who are willing to die for what they believe in.
So how will you spend your Memorial Day? Will you take a few moments and remember those who have fallen to give you the freedoms and liberties that we enjoy today.
