Match Date: May 12, 2017
It finally happened. The first steel match of the season. We were supposed to start shooting last week, but it rained so much, the first match was canceled and this was the official first match of the 2017 season. I also realized, this is the 5th year I have been shooting steel in this league! Happy 5 years to me! LOL
Match Weather wasn’t bad. It was cloudy and a little humid from having rained a little earlier in the day, but over all it wasn’t too bad. It’s always nice to see the same people who have been coming from year to year and get a chance to reconnect. Being that this was the first match, it was a chance to knock the rust off and get back into the groove of things. After thinking about it, I decided to once again shoot in the Rimfire Division this year because I had so much fun shooting it last year. Last night I shot a 50.05 which is faster then my fastest time last year. Talk about starting the season strong.
Even with a great score, the match was nothing but a comedy of errors the whole time. Jams, bad reloads, bad jokes and just…..ugh! Had you been there to watch me shoot and not just see the edited video from below, you would have thought I had never touched a gun in my life. I was so embarrassed.
But I did have some good moments too. I shot a sub 3 second string on Stage 1 which was awesome. Even with the mess ups I had, I was able to keep my times down, so that means I am consistently shooting fast and well.
So that’s what I have for the first match. Hope you enjoy the video.
