Match Date: July 29, 2016
The weather made for an interesting match this evening. Between rain, sun and humidity, it was a muggy and moist July summer evening. I had some really good runs this evening, but I also had some epic failures that contributed to a high scoring time. I think that a lot of that had to do with ammo. The M&P22 seems to run my thunderbolts just fine, but craps the bed when it comes to the Remington golden nose bullets in a bucket I got for cheap. Regardless though, I still came out with a payout, so while I sucked, I sucked just enough to shoot for “free” next time.
After getting my gear together and out to stage 1, as I was sitting there minding my own business, it starts to pour down rain. You can actually see the rain in the video from stage one. I had thought about grabbing my card and heading back to the shelter to wait it out, but I was next in line when it started, so I just toughed it out. After I ran my strings, I packed it all up and ran for the shelter. We had to wait about 10-15 minutes, but after the rain was through, the sky cleared, the sun came out and we boiled down in the pistol pits. But I still tried to finish the night strong.
My battery died on stage 3 for my camera so that’s why it looks a little rushed when I am getting up there. The RO and the rest of the people were kind enough to move me down a slot so I could run back and replace the battery in the GoPro. I had already done my make ready routine so I just ran with it instead of holding people up.
Overall, it was a lot of fun and I had a great time shooting the match. I can’t wait till next time and see what the weather brings for us.
That’s it for this match.
