Match Date: August 8, 2014
Last week (August 1, 2014), we were on Vacation, so we didn’t do any shooting. But we got to see some. We made a trip to Colonial Williamsburg and got to see Muskets and Cannons shot. It was AWESOME! The trip was a lot of fun and I recommend it if you are looking for something to do. But that is for another post 🙂
Sadly this was the last week this season that our son could shoot with us in Friday Night Steel. He shot about 3 times this season with us, which is a good way to start. Whenever he is here, it’s always a little hectic cause we like to try to do things with him and keep him occupied. Trips, family and friends, vacations, new things to see during the day. But it’s always great to have him here. We are so proud of how well he has done this year with Steel. When he comes up next time, we will try to find a shoot to go to. Something we always do. For his first year shooting in Steel he was excited. Next year he has mentioned he wants to shoot 9mm instead of Rimfire.
The last time we shot, I shot my P226. I hadn’t shot that gun in a while and I had forgotten how much I love shooting that gun. It is a sweet shooter and just feels good. I love my Sig. I would love to get another one some time. So I decided to shoot it again this week. We are going to have so buy some 9mm till we can get a chance to sit down and order some more projectiles for IDPA this coming Sunday, but I can shoot the Sig this week again. I don’t have an IDPA Legal holster setup for the Sig or I would shoot that in IDPA on Sunday.
Surprisingly, I hit the zone well this week. I had my first sub 3 second run on one of my Stage One Strings. I thought the Score was written down wrong at first, but the guy who was running the timer for me that time said I really did do it. I was shocked. It was a great feeling. Now to try to do that on a regular basis.
What I did wrong: for some of the stages I realized I am moving too fast. I need to slow down and concentrate more. I am trying to rush it.
What I did Right: We had fun since it was the last shoot with our son.
