Match Date: August 22, 2014
This week was something….different for me. This was the first time in a long time that I had to go to steel….ALONE…duh duh daaaaaa. LOL We are babysitting our nephews this week and my beautiful bride told me to go shoot tonight while she stayed home with the boys. So I went straight from work. I really appreciate her letting me go do this. I know she was pretty bummed that she couldn’t go along, but that is how things go sometimes. I completely understood and when we have one of our own kids, we will be doing the same thing.
It was so Hot and HUMID on the range tonight. You could almost cut the moisture with a knife. We were all sweating like pigs. But at least it wasn’t raining during the match. Did I mention it was HOT!
But that didn’t stop me from trying to shoot my best. I had some pretty good runs for the night until the first string of Stage 3. I totally messed it up and drove my time up. I knew better but hey. This was also the first match to use the new loads I worked up. They ran great. Low recoil, ran the slide and were pretty accurate.
Overall it was a good night. I missed having my cheering section, but I still had a great time.
Did I mention it was soooo HOT!
What I did wrong: I was rushing shots and not taking the time to slow down for the smaller targets like I needed to. I was able to rush through the larger targets, but I need to slow down on the smaller ones. I threw a lot of lead at them and took too long. I didn’t follow my own advice and only shoot 3 times and move on.
What I did Right: I made sure my grip was good and solid like last week. I was able to make more accurate shots because of it. I also remembered to adjust my stance properly. I also remembered to drive with my legs as opposed to my waist.
Since my bride was not able to come with me, there is no match video for this week. I will have some next week 🙂
